ASOSAI WGEA

According to the recommendations of the XVI INCOSAI, the ASOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (ASOSAI WGEA) was founded at the 8th Assembly of the ASOSAI held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2000.

The ASOSAI WGEA aims to achieve the following goals:

• Goal 1: Helping member SAIs get a better understanding of issues in environmental auditing.
• Goal 2: Enhancing information exchange and experience sharing among member SAIs in the field of environmental auditing.
• Goal 3: Publishing all kinds of environmental auditing information and guidelines (recommendations, working methods, etc.) that can be utilized by member SAIs.

Since the establishment of the ASOSAI WGEA, it has organized 8 ASOSAI seminars on environmental auditing and 8 ASOSAI WGEA meetings, conducted 10 surveys within the ASOSAI on the topic of environmental auditing, and organized and implemented 5 cooperative environmental audits and 2 research projects. During 2023-2024, the ASOSAI WGEA will focus on the environmental SDGs of the UN and carry out work under the guidance of the ASOSAI and the INTOSAI WGEA.

Presently, the ASOSAI WGEA has 34 members and 1 observer. SAI China is the Chair of the working group, who is also a member of the INTOSAI WGEA steering committee.
