SAO and World Bank organize joint seminar on Green Public Procurement Audit

On 30 April 2026, the World Bank and the State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand jointly organized the 2nd session of the World Bank & SAO Seminar Series on “Green Public Procurement Audit” at the World Bank Office in Thailand.
The seminar was welcomed by Ms. Patricia Mc Kenzie, Practice Manager, Financial Management Unit, East Asia and Pacific Region, World Bank. Mr. Diomedes Berroa, Regional Procurement Manager, East Asia and Pacific Region, World Bank, highlighted the importance of sustainable public procurement. On behalf of SAO, Ms.Khanamporn Philapurana, Division Director of the Research Office, emphasized the role of Supreme Audit Institutions in auditing green public procurement, noting that SAO, as Chair of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (INTOSAI WGEA), has included this topic within the INTOSAI WGEA framework. Mr. Padipat Sappachaii, Division Director of the International Affairs Office, also expressed appreciation to the World Bank for its kind support in organizing the seminar.
The seminar aimed to strengthen international knowledge and understanding among SAO staff and to further promote practical cooperation between SAO and the World Bank. More than 80 participants joined both on-site and online, including SAO staff and members of INTOSAI WGEA.
The session featured expert speakers from the World Bank and covered two main areas:

Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP), including key success factors and frameworks for developing sustainable procurement systems; and

Green Public Procurement (GPP), including its importance and approaches to auditing environmentally friendly public procurement.
