Recent issue of Greenlines presents a feature story on planetary health

The INTOSAI WGEA Greenlines Newsletter’s latest edition was published in January. The edition’s feature story focuses on planetary health, where Professor Ilona M. Otto describes how systems supporting human life on Earth are in distress due to global warming. The article also addresses what kinds of key interventions are called for and how climate interventions have potential for interlinkages alongside other global policy goals. The co-benefits of these interlinkages can be vast and range to well-being and public health.

This issue’s Greetings from the Chair discusses harnessing indigenous knowledge in tackling the effects of global warming. The changes in the Arctic are happening as we speak and affect the global environment. Understanding the changes in the Arctic region can provide solutions to adopting to climate change worldwide. Indigenous people have inhabited the Arctic for thousands of years and indigenous knowledge can be an important source of information in addressing the effects of climate change. Environmental Change and Indigenous knowledge were also the two main topics of 22^nd INTOSAI WGEA Assembly held in January. The Greenlines’ Greetings from the Secretariat gives insight into the arrangements of the event as well as other recent INTOSAI WGEA Secretariat activities.

As usual Greenlines presents the latest news on environmental auditing from the SAIs around the world and this issue features audit cases on environmental auditing from SAIs of Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, the European Court of Auditors, Finland, India, Netherlands, Pakistan, and the United States. Regional WGEAs ASOSAI, COMTEMA, PASAI and EUROSAI WGEA also give an update on their activities over the past six months.
