Fraud and corruption – food for thought for environmental auditors

Fraud and corruption are one aspect that Supreme Audit Institutions encounter in their work. The INTOSAI WGEA had a project on fraud and corruption in 2011-2013, noting that there is a growing body of evidence which clearly indicates that the negative impacts of fraud and corruption also are substantial in the environmental and natural resource sectors.
In our latest blog, Director Joshua Reddaway from UK National Audit Office writes how green initiatives are susceptible to fraud. He discusses the topic via three examples: packaging recycling, renewable heat incentive scheme targeted to households and businesses, and the biodiversity net gain requirement.
