Art in the 21st INTOSAI WGEA Assembly

25.10.2022

Art has always played an important role in addressing the world around us. Now, more than ever, art has a major role in addressing the most pressing issues of the 21st century: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

Art and artists can engage people with new perspectives on these pressing issues. A drawing, painting, or poem can create strong emotional responses to the environmental crises around us. This makes art a powerful tool for advocacy and social awareness. Artists also play an important role in visualising complex research and science. Consequently, making relevant information from all sectors more accessible and understandable to a wider audience.

The 21st Assembly of the INTOSAI WGEA presented a unique opportunity to visualise the environmental contents of the Assembly through an artistic lens. The Assembly was also held on the Maldivian island of Ukulhas which is known for its rich artistic history.

Our Assemly Art Slideshow summarises the contents of the Assembly. It includes art from local children, artists, participants, musicians, and visualisations of complex information.

Finally, we would like to thank SAI Maldives for integrating art into the 21st INTOSAI WGEA Assembly.
